EVERY GAME HAS AN OPENING MOVE

Years before he oversaw the most elaborate death games ever conceived, John Kramer was a handyman working for an affluent neighborhood. One night, when he goes to confront a client who isn't paying their fair share, John becomes tangled in the violent web of a prolific serial killer, and he learns what it means to both cherish and take a life.

This script is based on The Midnight Man by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. Before they went on to write Saw IV, V, VI, 3D and the unfortunately shelved Saw XI, they presented their spec script for what would later become The Collector. A producer had the idea to tool their script into a Saw prequel, though nothing ever came of it.

The purpose of this product is to try and realise that vision. What if The Collector told Jigsaw's backstory instead of Saw IV?

DISCLAIMER: I love Saw IV and The Collector and this is in no way an attempt to fix them or course correct or any bullshit like that. This is just a fun little writing exercise/what-if scenario. If you haven't seen either movie, I highly recommend checking them out.
