Before there was Prometheus, screenwriter Jon Spaihts conceived of the project as this direct prequel to Alien. While the two projects share a lot of similarities, this is an overall different story that's worth reading, especially if you're a fan of the Xenomorphs, or simply glancing at what could have been.
